I SEE YOU (me)
Description
The subject is a woman set in brownish background. The first striking observation is that she is naked bare in the painting. This choice of presentation is a form of reflection. Despite the apparent scars and imperfections, she chooses this to acknowledge the naked truth. The spider web is often related a state of negligence. Yet, to a spider, the web is its home. This is the pinnacle example of self-entrapment which reflects the subject’s state of mind where she felt neglected, yet it is also her “safe place” where she is rapped. The other striking image would be the black-white films surrounding her body. It symbolizes a person’s memory, be it good or bad. The film twirls around, entangling her from freedom of her own past. What the artist wants to convey through her is that no one is perfect, don’t be too harsh on yourself.Try it!
