In a poem by Carlos Drummond de Andrade, a phrase caught my attention - "A time when we are just an unformulated hypothesis in the universal chaos."  And I set out to create my own visual hypotheses, fluctuating in the universal chaos.

Bathed in light, the world often appears simple, yet shadows reveal complexity in the familiar. They define surfaces, mark transitions, and stretch across forms, giving unnoticed shapes a fleeting significance. Shadows quietly reshape perception, hinting at depth and texture where light alone cannot.

In this collection, shadows assume presence without force. They create rhythm, frame geometry, and draw attention to subtle relations, encouraging the observer to linger and to see how space is quietly composed.

The latest exhibition form the New Atlantic Wave group of artist in north Devon.  'Abstract' is a contemporary collection of over 50 works by 22 emerging artists. From large impressive artworks to small intimate pieces this show captures the diversity of styles and forms modern  abstraction creates.

Abstract

In 'Inner Currents', Philip Campagne explores the unseen forces that shape human behaviour and systems of power. Through layered, circular compositions, his paintings reveal psychological landscapes where control, conflict and transformation unfolds. Recurring motifs evoke both cellular structures and cosmic movement, suggesting a tension between the personal and the universal. The figure of the “dictator” appears not only as a political symbol, but as a reflection of deeper human dynamics — forces that operate within societies, but also within the individual.

Color and form interact as carriers of energy, pulling the viewer into fields of tension where opposites coexist: vulnerability and control, chaos and order, destruction and renewal. As the exhibition progresses, moments of disruption gradually give way to balance and reflection. What initially appears turbulent begins to shift, revealing the possibility of change.

What endures is the interplay between self and world, the ongoing tension between circumstance and possibility that gives each life its singular character.

Voices of Women brings together a diverse group of female artists whose practices speak from different places, materials and lived experiences, yet resonate around a shared core: the act of giving form to what is often unseen, unheard or unspoken.

This exhibition is not about a single narrative of womanhood, nor does it aim to define a collective voice. Instead, it embraces multiplicity. Each artist presents her own language—sometimes subtle and introspective, sometimes bold and confrontational—shaped by personal history, intuition, observation and resilience. Together, these works form a constellation rather than a chorus: distinct voices existing side by side, connected without merging into one.

Across painting, texture, gesture and material exploration, the works in Voices of Women engage with themes such as connection and fragmentation, inner landscapes, memory, transformation and the relationship between body, nature and environment.

Landscape of Becoming is a virtual solo exhibition by Christiaan van Ruyven, presenting a body of paintings in which landscape is not depicted, but felt. Rather than representing a specific place, these works open a space of transformation — an inner terrain shaped by colour, memory, movement and atmosphere.

Christiaan's paintings emerge through an intuitive and layered process. Gestures are built up, erased, repeated and reworked, allowing forms to appear and dissolve over time. What unfolds is not a fixed image, but a continuous state of becoming. The paintings resist closure: they hover between emergence and disappearance, between structure and flow.

Colour plays a central role in this process. It functions not as surface decoration, but as an active force that shapes space and perception. Deep blues suggest depth and inwardness, reds carry intensity and tension, while lighter tones introduce breath and openness. Colours collide, overlap and recede, creating rhythmic compositions
