Sarah Rutherford

Sarah Rutherford, Fine Artist Sarah is a full-time portrait and still life artist. Most days, you will find her working in her tiny Wimbledon studio in London. Sarah paints and draws as an act of mindful focus. “My work is an act of escapism for me. I pick up a brush or pencil and I’m lost for hours. Focussing in such a way – on a singular thing – is hugely rewarding, when I’m otherwise overwhelmed by everything else going on in the world. My work allows me to be somewhere else, and all anxiety melts away.” Overarchingly, her work is a study in observation – an examination of who we are, and what fills our world. Sarah is drawn to both portraiture and still life. Her work in still life is a study in simplicity.
