Born in Montevideo, I was shaped early by a world rich in color, rhythm, and visual expression. Drawing came instinctively—I filled margins with imagined forms, discovering in those early gestures the quiet power of being seen. That sense of recognition became the first spark of my artistic identity. At twelve, my family and I immigrated to Newark, where a new cultural landscape introduced both contrast and resilience. It was there, at thirteen, that I began painting in oils. The slow, deliberate process of layering pigment revealed something essential to me: painting was not just an act of creation, but a way of understanding and reconstructing experience. Though my academic path led me through biology at Seton Hall University and later an MBA in accounting, art remained a constant undercurrent—persistent, patient, and unresolved. In 2020, during a moment of global stillness, I chose to fully return to that calling. I pursued and earned a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from Savannah College of Art and Design, an experience that deepened both my technical rigor and conceptual voice. My practice became a dialogue between past and present—between the intuitive mark-making of childhood and the disciplined inquiry of contemporary painting. Today, my work explores light as both a physical and emotional force. Influenced by South American vibrancy, the structural intensity of the American Northeast, and a lifelong engagement with material and process, my paintings seek to translate atmosphere into form. Through oil, acrylic, and resin, I build layered surfaces that invite stillness, reflection, and connection. Each piece is an extension of a lifelong journey—one that began with a pencil in Montevideo and continues to evolve with every canvas. My work is not only meant to be seen, but to be felt: as presence, as memory, and as a lived experience of light.
