Lucio Carbeli F. B., a self-taught visual artist, came to art via an unconventional path, what the Greeks called anankē—the irresistible force—which led him to express himself through art. He studied law and practiced for a time. Later, a profound existential quest—a period of inner searching, loss, and radical internal transformation—led him to contemplative and meditative practices, and from there, to painting. The inevitable force and need to express himself through color and paint. His work is expressed in abstract watercolor and acrylic on canvas, mediums with which he explores the impermanence of existence, the transcendence of inner light, emotional liberation, and the beauty that can emerge from an impermanent life subject to change, loss, and transformation. Nature, his inner world and meditative practice, dreams, and the collective unconscious are his constant sources of inspiration. His process is intuitive, emotional, and contemplative, rooted in the traditions of Abstract Expressionism, European Informalism, and Neo-Expressionism. He expresses a transmutation through color, expression, and gestural movement. He conveys what remains despite changes and transformations, the spiritual energy amidst all that changes, dies, and transforms. His life journey is converted into color, light, and presence on paper or canvas. His chromatic language operates as a system: crimson reds for vital force, indigo blues for inner depth, orange-yellows for energy and joy, and violet for transcendence. He has exhibited in Santiago, Chile, and participated in exhibitions abroad, at cultural centers and associations in Rome and Milan, and in a group exhibition at the Azur Gallery in Berlin. His work is available on the global platform Artsy through the Azur Gallery Berlin (Germany). He is currently based in Santiago, Chile.
