Turquoise Beach Waves V is inspired by the waves off the north Devon and Cornish coastline.It shows turquoise waves breaking onto a sandy beach. The waves are lit by the rising sun turning the water several shades of turquoise. The time of day is key here at sunrise the wave is lit by the pale lemon yellow sunlight. The highlights in the painting are mixture of pale tuquoise with deep indigo blue in the shadows contrasting with a blue sky. The foreground shows sea-foam rising up and under the waves.
