"Flowers have long been associated with femininity, youth and desirability. Their beauty is often understood through their freshness, their decline marking the point at which they are no longer considered worthy of attention. I see a parallel in the way women can be celebrated for their beauty when young, yet become increasingly invisible as they age. Through repetition and the layering of colour, I disrupt the familiar image of the flower, creating forms that are simultaneously alluring and unsettling. The photographs inhabit an uncertain space between attraction and discomfort, life and decay, visibility and disappearance."
"I want the viewer to do more than simply look at these images. I want them to enter them, to linger within their shifting forms and colours, and to experience something that resists easy interpretation. Chroma sees this general disruption applied to the world around us."
