My work explores the overlooked and the everyday, capturing moments of transition in urban environments. Having lived in Bristol for over two decades, I find constant inspiration in its evolving landscapes, from quiet corners to bustling streets. My paintings are driven by a desire to celebrate the seemingly mundane, urging viewers to pause and reconsider the spaces we so often pass by without a second glance. Working predominantly in acrylic and oils, I focus on layers, texture, and the interplay of light and shadow to bring depth to these often unnoticed scenes. The tension between abstraction and reality plays a pivotal role in my process, with each piece becoming a balance between memory, observation, and emotion. My current collection, which will be exhibited at Kit Form Gallery, delves deeper into these themes, reflecting my ongoing fascination with the subtle beauty of urban life. The exhibition coincides with a short film, produced by Brass Hands Studios, offering insight into my creative process and the ideas behind this body of work. Ultimately, I aim to invite the viewer into my world—to see through my eyes—and to find beauty and intrigue in the overlooked corners of the city we share.
