Downpour at Crooklets Beach Bude is inspired by the beach at just north of Bude, North Cornwall. Starting the painting on the beach with acrylic paints the rain started half way through the painting. Undeterred I carried on painting until the the downpour started to wash away some of the paint, I stopped and headed for cover. The next morning I hired a beach hut for the day and continued to paint looking out towards the rolling waves. I kept the sky which had some of the paint washed away by the rain, as it gave an abstract, in the moment feel to this painting, adding some layers of texture and glazes to enrich the surface. This painting has lots of texture with abstract brushstrokes and pallet knife work in the waves and on the beach.Try it!
