Medium - Leather, fabric, pen and oil paint on canvas
In Africa family represents the strongest ties. Unfortunately we don’t choose what families we are born into or our countries of birth. These are unbreakable bonds. I use leather strips which came from the tassels of a handbag I made to explore the deep and often complex connections formed by these bonds. Leather is a durable material that can stand the test of time. Similarly family bonds are difficult to break and last our life time. Werther we have good or bad relationships. We suffer the burden of dealing with generational patterns that come from being born in particular family. But there is beauty in unity and being connected. Separation can be regarded as detrimental or rebellious, represented by the strips that look like insectsTry it!
