This is a digital design from a canvas called Resolve, painted by O’Donovan in 2013.
She is of the belief that you can tell a lot about somebody by looking at their hands. Whether they are worn, well kept, rings and bracelets, manicured. So, she took many photos of her own hands and sifted out those worth depicting. She was also examining control when it came to her work. So, she allowed paint to drip down the canvas of its own free will. She loved the contrast this showed between the drips and the careful expression of her hand through oil paint.Try it!
