This piece, entitled "Fragrant Memories" is of a young girl being transported to her past after smelling the fragrance of a rose. We can therefore make a connection between the sense of smell and our spiritual lives since a specific scent can remind us of something we have experienced in the past. The fragrance of the rose makes the girls' senses come alive and as she smiles we can see she is having a pleasant memory - maybe of her grandmother tending to her garden. She is surrounded by roses and she is indeed experiencing "Fragrant Memories".
The sense of smell is indeed a powerful one and can transport us back to the past. There is a link between our sense of smell and our spirituality. Growing up as a child, i can remember the scent of my mother's favourite perfume as she dresses for galas. Today, whenever i smell that specific perfume, I can picture her - how she looked with her red lipstick and her red dress.Try it!
