This unusual pastel artwork of a chestnut Arabian horse was created from a reference photo by an unknown photographer. As one of my followers on Instagram said:
I grew up in the American Southwest where horse art abounds. The fiery background works beautiful with the chestnut horse and Arabian horses are a beloved breed. I can see this in an adobe hacienda. Love it! Rebecca Buchanan.
As usual, I created this detailed pastel artwork with soft pastels and pastel pencils on Artspectrum Colourfix pastel paper. The sharpened pencils create the detail and the background is blended using polystyrene sticks to give the three-dimensional effect to the completed pastel painting of this stunning Arab.
