GYRES 2 is part of the EMBEDDED IN THE FLESH OF THE WORLD series exploring memory embodied; reactivating gestures, marks, punctuations recalling encounters with/in the world. Touching, feeling, sensing, almost belonging. Using my sensuous physicality to create with natural/manufactured, new/discarded found materials. I choose to leave the marks of my passage, my making just as those marks have been left on/within me through my encounters. I am embedded in these forms.
Thinking about spirals and time and the ability to change; of water, of earth, of space – the eddies and currents. The Weddell Sea whose waters journey across expanses of our globe created initially on the surface by winds driving sea-ice and icebergs in a clockwise vortex, forming eddies 25-37 miles across; these vast gyres generate deep water currents that transport heat around the globe.Try it!
