"Escape to the Mountains" is a painting created on raw, unprimed canvas using the soak-stain technique. Painted directly on the floor, the fluid acrylics were poured and allowed to saturate the untreated fabric, letting the colors bleed organically into one another. Represent the vast skies, mountainous terrain, and dense vegetation, while delicate touches of gold suggest rare alpine flowers—an homage to the beauty hidden within remote landscapes.
The unframed piece carries a tactile, immersive quality, enhanced by sweeping brushstrokes and the canvas’s natural texture, which contribute to the artwork’s raw and unrefined appeal. The "Raw" Collection was my very first body of work — a beginning shaped by inspiration from Helen Frankenthaler, yet re-invent through my own voice and experience. What began as an homage to Frankenthaler’s bold innovation became, for me, an act of liberation — a reinvention that laid the foundation for everything that followed.Try it!
