Oil PaintDescription
This is a summer version of Rockaway Deep: more sunlight and heat. More Yellow gold and light streaming in.
Again I have used oil glazing to deepen colour.
I have loved transparent glazing from the very beginning of my art career. Base layers of colour from acrylic are dull and need oils to bring forward the colour depth.
Here, layered translucent planes overlap and intersect, creating a composition that shifts between landscape and architecture, openness and enclosure.
This piece is rendered in a palette of muted greens, aquas, and soft greys, and yellow ochres.
I hope that this work evokes a sense of quiet contemplation.
I think the geometric forms suggest structures that are familiar yet undefined, encouraging you, the viewer to navigate the space through memory and imagination rather than representation.Try it!
