After an evening hike with my dog, the colors, the light, and the sound of cicadas had me buzzing. I hurried back to the studio, ready to go. I'm a morning person, so I knew I had to get some ideas onto canvas fast. Just the black, like I'd start a page of field notes. The next day more refined shapes and colors: leaves, shadows, flowers, not quite abstract, not quite figurative. Over a few weeks, I kept returning to the canvas, pulling it all together. I love the open composition, with parallel lines that feel like horizon. The white gives everything space. Clean lines. Contrast. Warm and modern.
