Description
I watched climbers ascend a rock wall in Colorado, tiny dots against the sheer vertical that formed over millions of years. Every hold they trusted was compressed through pressure and time. This painting is about that kind of daring, strength and courage. The palette comes from the land: rusty red rock, bleached white light, the black of shadows and crevices. A climber's body must read the wall for weakness and integrity. I paint the same way. Where does the eye find purchase? Where does it have to reach? "Wedge" is a metaphor and a question: What do you hold on to when things get tough? For additional detail shots and price please tap BUY.
