Description
On ANZAC Day, I painted with listening rather than speaking. This work holds the feeling of remembrance—where silence is not empty, but full. Layers of blue move like distance and ocean, carrying what cannot be returned. Earth tones rise beneath them like ground we stand on today: steady, weathered, enduring. Darkened forms drift through the surface like shadows of stories passed down, while small breaks of gold appear as courage—quiet, unwavering—still shining through time. The texture is rough, cracked, and alive, like history itself: not polished, not simple, but true. In this field of colour and scar, I honour sacrifice and the tenderness that follows it. I offer this painting as a space to pause—so we remember, we grieve, and we keep the light.
