Ontplooiing I & II is conceived as a single diptych. The two works are inseparable and together explore themes of unfolding, transformation and organic growth. Through delicate layers, natural forms and subtle colour transitions, each panel complements and strengthens the other, creating one complete visual narrative.

What happens when we slow down and look more closely?

Within this new virtual exhibition 'In Between the Lines', Dutch artist Mariette van Temmen explores the hidden structures and rhythms that exist within nature. Inspired by microscopic worlds, organic growth patterns and fragile ecological systems, her works invite the viewer into a space of quiet observation and discovery.

Through transparent layers of watercolour and ink, forms emerge, dissolve and reconnect. What may initially appear abstract gradually reveals traces of roots, mosses, fungal networks and natural processes. The works do not offer fixed interpretations but encourage a personal encounter, allowing space for reflection and imagination.

Rather than demanding attention, these works reward it. They invite us to pause, to look beyond the obvious and to become aware of the subtle connections that surround us.
