A moment of union suspended in light — where bodies dissolve and only presence remains.
In Ethereal, Ani Abakumova reimagines intimacy as something weightless, suspended between form and disappearance. Two faces emerge through a veil of fine threads anchored by brass nails, their features inseparable, as though the very fabric of the work sought to hold them together.
The figures do not stand on solid ground but seem to hover, caught in a drift of blue and pale light. Love here is not physical gesture but vibration — a resonance that transcends boundaries, turning closeness into an atmosphere. Thousands of intersecting threads weave concealment and revelation into one fragile field, where tenderness becomes luminous, infinite, and ungraspable.
While Ethereal recalls the dreamlike levitations of Chagall, it moves beyond homage to become an independent meditation: a portrait of intimacy as energy, as presence without weight, as a union that exists beyond sight and touch — in breath,Try it!
