Adam Docker is a London-based photographer and cinematographer whose career spans 25 years and over 90 countries. Renowned for his painterly travel images and emotionally charged portraits, Adam’s work explores themes of identity, connection, and the beauty found in resilience. His artistic philosophy is deeply rooted in storytelling, and he describes his approach as capturing “something in the act and seeing how it becomes something else.” Adam’s journey into photography is informed by a unique upbringing between London and Rome, enriched by his Italian heritage and a large family of 10 stepbrothers and stepsisters. This bicultural experience has shaped his perspective and continues to influence his work, which often bridges the worlds of fine art and documentary photography. With a background in cinematography, Adam’s ability to infuse movement into still imagery elevates his photographs into experiences that resonate on a visceral level. His accolades include twice winning the British Journal of Photography’s Portrait of Humanity award (2021, 2023), being a LensCulture Street Photography Finalist, and receiving The Independent Photographer People Award. His self-published book, Motion and Emotion, reflects his dedication to creating work that challenges perceptions, inspires reflection, and transcends boundaries. Through his lens, Adam tells stories that explore the depth of human connection, creating visual puzzles that invite interpretation and evoke emotion.
