PaperDescription
When I arrived in the United States, I was eager to learn everything: the culture, the language, everything. Yet, I feared losing my identity as a Cuban; over time, I understood that one never loses their identity, customs, or culture. Instead, you simply add more to what you already brought with you. This series speaks of another aspect of identity, that of our identity as humanity. 'Fading' captures the evanescent nature of memory and identity through each piece in this collection. Figures are portrayed enveloped in a veil of obscurity, symbolizing the gradual loss of self-awareness and the blurring of personal history. Painted in 2022, the series resonates with my contemplative journey through themes of disappearance and the ephemeral. I depict this delicate fade with a palette of muted colors, enhanced by dynamic brushstrokes that invite viewers to a reflective experience. Furthermore, the entire series is accompanied by its own sound space. I compose works to intensify the visualTry it!
