Cherry blossoms bloom in the beginning of spring. They are symbols of renewal, of new beginnings, transformation. They also represent the cycle of life, since the moment they bloom they are headed to flower and then transform into other forms and energies.

Dodo uses pigments that change with the light, purplish, greenish shades that transform and become darker as the sunlight fades. This is how she represents the ever-changing cycle and the cherry tree.

Opening

The birth of new materials, like gold find their way through other heavy materials. It is the symbolical representation of how everything realised and created in our physical world comes from the non-material world. Dodo Newman’s artworks come from the unseen. She dives deep into her own universe to bring forth forms, materials and colours that materialize into compositions. She feels comfortable where contrasts meet to converge and create beautiful images. This is why materials and elements from Earth inspire her when she creates.

River of gold finding its way

This painting remind us of the two-fold energy. One that reminds us to be grounded and the other to know that we are spirits in human forms.
