Description
Sandstone Eruption. This artwork captivates me, drawing forth memories hidden within its quartz grains. A brilliant white light bursts forth, illuminating and revealing deep-seated childhood traumas. Its vibrant layers, clashing in color and emotion, are marked by stark white lines, more than just artistic elements. They symbolize the deep rift with Achilles, my tormentor during Greek school in Fitzroy in the 1960s. This piece is not solely about suffering; amidst the chaos, it speaks of resilience and survival. As I delve into its depths, I’m transported back to those times, feeling both the burden of history and the promise of liberation. The artwork’s turmoil mirrors Achilles’ oppressive presence, yet its luminous light offers a beacon of hope, suggesting a journey towards healing and self-discovery amidst the storms of the past.
