Lost Girl. 101 X 76 CM 2013jpg

Frank Creber
The name of the painting comes from an old time American song, I have worked with young people on public art projects and often there is a large gap between their aspirations and their capacity and skills, I remember being like that too. My wife has worked her whole life with communities in east London, often helping people to get themselves back into mainstream life, she has worked with teenage parents and the stories she tells me have led to me creating characters for my painting. We have all spent a lot of time looking at Hollywood films, the action films often seem to culminate in an explosion with the protagonists walking towards the camera in victory. In this painting I brought the two ideas together, a young person trying to find her way and in the background the world ignites.
