Inspiration
Deep Blue Waves is inspired by the coastline of South Devon and North Cornwall. This particular painting show a large blue and teal green surfing wave cresting. The sky is a pale cerulean blue.The light coming through the cresting wave is a combination of turquoise and teal blue. The deep shadow of the wave is a mixture of viridian green, phthalo blue and green and indigo blue. The foreground shows a choppy sea and sea foam rising up under the waves.
Medium
I like to work in oils because of their versatility. You can layer the paint so that it has a translucency. Also It is so robust a medium I can scrape the paint back or scratch into it too. This is another in my series of wave paintings which I started many years ago. BA (Hons) in Fine Art in 2008 at the University of Plymouth.Try it!
