Description
Eurydice and Naiades, 1994, oil on canvas,100 x 150 cm Price After Request emventouri@gmail.com The title "Eurydice and Naiads" arose from my encounter with the Naiad nymphs in Kimolos. Kimolos, the beautiful island of the Cyclades, is my father's birthplace, but it also happened to be the birthplace of this painting. During my first visit to the island, dazzled by its light and beauty, I began to paint sitting on a rock on the beach, not the island itself but the feeling of it inside me. The figures of the painting like carefree nymphs, Naiads, dance bathed in the rays of bright colors born by the sun. This is how the revival of an ancient meeting of Eurydice with the Naiads, Eurydice (me) and the nymphs reunited, magically and unexpectedly!!! The design was later transferred to canvas. This project was a landmark for me and influenced the course of my work thereafter.
