Blue Angel: The Moulting Dance  can be referenced and sourced to earlier series of paintings. “A Gathering of Angels” (2017 - present) series paintings speak to the abstracted essence of a spiritual being (Angel) in various transformational and transitory encounters. “The Holding” (2015 - present) series, where the centre gestural area is held by the dynamics of opposition using geometric and emblematic shapes. And lastly the 2008 series “Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell”.

In 2020, I revisited using International Marine Signal Flags (the International Code of Signals or ICS), as counterpoints to the visual dynamics, and as an entrance portal to the work. Each flag represents a letter in the alphabet, and also has a standard meaning that expands the abstracted  narrative.
