DescriptionBotswana Feb 2013. We found ourselves in the Okavango Delta at early morning and had decided to take a rest and have breakfast in the shelter of low bushes.
The setting was enchanting, an adult elephant and a group of lechwe antelopes were in the swamp a short distance from where we were. While we were enjoying this spectacle, this leopard female came completely unexpectedly from the low bushes just next to our car. Stunned, neither of us had noticed anything when we parked, she walked right next to our car toward the open field toward the swamp where the lechwe antelopes were. After she had moved about 30 meters from us she sat down and turned her head towards us, the soft morning light colored the grasses a pale green, accentuating the pastel colors of this elusive animal.
