Description
There is a deep concentration in the two dancers’ poses and their facial expressions, as if something very difficult is about to be pulled off. I found that in making the ink drawings demanded a great deal of focus, I found that I had to keep to a fairly close approximation of the image I was using and at the same time exaggerate the form in some way in order that that the figure worked in terms of expressiveness. As working drawings they have corrections in white acrylic, that is part of the creation process, when the drawing was not going in the right direction - I would go back to the white of the page and continue on to completion. Sometimes I would work with an image of just a face, or the top part of the figure, and would have to invent the rest of the figure to create a completed drawing.
