StoneDescription
Guardian of the Lineage embodies the Mapiti and pre–Dry Tree philosophy in Sampson Kuvenguhwa’s sculptural language, where form is reduced to its spiritual essence. The elongated stance and enclosed posture suggest restraint, vigilance, and ancestral authority. Rather than depicting a literal figure, the sculpture represents a role—one who stands between generations, safeguarding memory, values, and continuity. The head, subtly bowed yet firmly anchored, evokes humility before ancestral law, while the solid base grounds the figure in lineage and land. In Mapiti theology, such guardians are not individuals but living conduits of ancestral presence, tasked with holding balance between past, present, and future. The sculpture radiates quiet power, stillness, and responsibility—an ancestral sentinel enduring beyond time.Try it!
