Woolacombe Bay Start of the Season
Description
It's early season at Woolacombe Bay. A few surfers are in, the RNLI have training on the beach and the sand is looking pink in the muted glow of weak, new season sunshine. Painted from atop the dunes at Marine Drive in Woolacombe, the scene shows the beach and dunes, mostly empty, but expectant of the busy surf season to come. For now the surfers are few and the holiday makers are nil, leaving the beach to the locals and dog walkers; having the place to themselves. As with most of my original paintings, this one was painted on the spot. I wanted to try and catch the clouds and that weird light making the sands appear pink in front of me. This painting was created in oils on a 20 x 16 inch stretched canvas and is frames in white wood approx 2'' wide.Try it!
