"Optimism, A Man on the Street."
Description
"In this street portrait, ”Optimism, A Man on the Street”, I engaged with this man who was clearly very articulate and intelligent but also existing in the most challenging of circumstances in life on the streets in Belfast. I spoke with him, listening attentively to his views and insights into the world around him, his notions of power, social injustice and inequalities and the conflicting forces that rage in society that explained so much about the apparent absurdities of life that he articulated. Perhaps I achieved, even if only some sense of his motivating force in life, or at least how he engaged with it, and it seemed clear that despite his circumstances, that his life experience, character and personality have allowed him to be fortified with a remarkable sense of optimism. I am most grateful that he permitted me to photograph this black and white portrait of him seated on a park bench on a street in Belfast."Try it!
