"Florentina en Ausangate, Peru."
Artist
Maria Fernanda Esperón AshworthDescription
"The photographs are deeply rooted in the cultures of the people portrayed. Some were taken in Peru, a land bursting with color. From the breathtaking Rainbow Mountain to traditional clothing, Peru embodies vibrancy, kindness, and authenticity. The other photographs were taken in my beloved Mexico. They feature Los Voladores de Papantla, also known as The Birds of the Earth. The Voladores de Papantla ceremony is a ritual that dates back to 1300 A.D. Through my lens, I hope to share the worldview of this ancient culture and the spiritual depth of their ceremonial flight. This iconic tradition of the Totonac people has been recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO."Try it!
