Special Request is a dance film, shot in NYC, performed and choreographed by S. Ama Wray (formerly known as Sheron). She depicts the spiritual and urban journey of the drum in the African Diaspora. Beginning with Nyabinghi drums, ancestral utterances of Jamaica, cascading into the bountiful world of African American music – from the Blues to Hip Hop – experience the fractal dance stories that grow out of the strength of its vibratory currencies.
