Description
This Pattachitra painting on silk cloth beautifully depicts Lord Ganesha in a dynamic dance pose, capturing movement and grace. Ganesha is adorned in intricate jewellery and a long garland of pink beads. His attire is colourful, with a vibrant dhoti in shades of red, yellow, and green, decorated with elaborate patterns that enhance the aesthetic appeal. Ganesha is portrayed with four hands, each holding symbolic objects. Sweets (modaks) representing rewards of devotion and wisdom, flute symbolising harmony and music! His elegantly curled trunk adds to the rhythmic flow of the composition, and a small yellow snake is wrapped around his belly, signifying protection and self-control. At the bottom right of the painting, his vehicle, the mouse (Mushak), is depicted, reinforcing his divine presence. The entire composition is framed with intricate floral and geometric patterns, characteristic of the Pattachitra art form from Odisha and Bengal.
