Description
“Stray Cats” are freedom-loving and unconventional. They don't like to be subordinated. This is probably also true for the members of the rockabilly band “Stray Cats”. Rockabilly is a variant of rock and roll that was developed in the mid-’50s by young white musicians in the South from the black rhythm and blues of the time. In Japan, especially in Tokyo, there are clubs whose members are dedicated to rockabilly. They live rockabilly and the style of the American 50's and meet every Sunday at the entrance of Yoyogi-Park to party and dance. They call themselves “The Strangers” or “Fallen Angels”, which is probably due to the rejection of these groups by part of Japanese society. Sometime in the summer, a few years ago, I also spent half a day in Yoyogi-Park, where the photos for this series were taken. When I looked at my old photos again, the motifs began to dance before my eyes.”
