It wasn't until I was 14 when Hockney's bold and diverse artwork entered my world at his Retrospection exhibition at the Tate Gallery in London. It continues to fascinate me how any artist can evolve their style and interest so radically, and this is certainly the case with Hockney.
When some friends recently purchased Mansfield House in Sydney's St Ives, a 1960's Palm Springs-style home, I immediately thought of Hockney and his paintings from this era. I wanted to recreate the clean, crisp lines and the flat blue of the sky, but add in some elements to make this fun and uniquely Sydney. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have loved creating it.Try it!
