There’s a double-edge to the title, it’s a recognition of a pattern that's emerged during this phase in my life, where contact with my daughter has been heavily limited. Every 2 weeks I see her for an hour and it’s the most precious hour of those 14 days, the rest of that day and a few days after I’m mostly in the studio and mostly making what feels like good work.
But to be a little lighter, I’ve also noticed in this painting how it falls apart from more than a couple of meters away. It’s unusual for me to be okay with this! I prefer compositions that shifts from different distances but doesn’t dissolve entirely.
