Queen Elizabeth II, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, visited Germany from 18 to 28 May 1965.Her first  visit played a crucial role in strengthening diplomatic ties and fostering friendship between the two nations. It was a significant act, given that Britain and Germany had been at war only two decades earlier. The Queen received an enthusiastic response from the crowds. Her visit was considered to be a great success by both sides.
The photographs were taken by Hans Steinhorst, the photographer of the Landesbildstelle Württemberg, now Landesmedienzentrum Baden-Württemberg. 
This photograph shows the Queen with the Prime Minister of Baden Württemberg, Kurt Georg Kiesinger.
