This piece reflects African culture, specifically Nigeria—my home country—where, as a woman (though it can apply to men as well, with more emphasis on women), once a certain age is reached without marriage, societal pressure from family, friends, and the community begins to mount. Marriage is often viewed as one of the greatest achievements in life, and this pressure can lead a woman to make hasty decisions that may not be in her best interest. These decisions can sometimes result in feelings of depression, self-doubt, and a questioning of her reality.Try it!
