SPACE OF PLAY
Description
Cement, Plaster, Clay, Paint, Wax, Gloss, Varnish on Canvas.
This artwork was made in three stages. The first stage was in 2009 I was studying on my BA in Fine Art. The canvas was unstretched and I was just playing around with all different coloured paints. The second stage was in 2017 I was studying on my MA in Fine Art. I took some clay different pre-used building materials and started to transform the painting into something sculptural. In 2019 I stretched the canvas heated up some wax and poured it over the existing materials. I then used a scalpel and hot knife to cut away parts of the wax where concave transformations had formed. This piece was selected for The London Group Open 2019, and it won the JPES Partnership Art PrizeTry it!
