Project Description: The body is the site for construction of experience as it is for demolition of memory.
My highly-textured mixed-media practice captures this cyclical inner life through a layering of fractured images. I often use chalk to depict human figures, often my own, reflecting the fragility of the lived experience. My creative process involves experimenting with various materials including ceramics, photocopies, and used paper. I use some of these materials to create while others to destroy the work itself. My work is often generated in a state of chaos, fragments of which can be found in my sketchbooks. These unstructured records serve as a form of self-ethnography that allows for serendipitous collisions that can create, rather than destroy meaning.Try it!
