Description
At the heart of Topography lies a deep appreciation for the natural allure of wood. Using a Dremel tool, the artist skillfully carves out the inherent lines and patterns within a piece of Luan wood. The result is a symphony of textures that unfold across the canvas, revealing the organic elegance of the material. The journey begins with a 5ft x 18” wood plate, a canvas too large for conventional printing presses. In an artistic decision, 10” were gracefully removed, leaving nearly 50” of pristine printing surface. The canvas for these wood prints is Lennox 100, an off-white, 250 gsm paper boasting neutral pH and acid-free properties. This carefully chosen medium ensures the longevity and archival quality of each piece, allowing audiences to immerse themselves in the tactile experience without concern for the passage of time.
