Project Description:
Sorokdo, a secluded island in South Korea, was once a haunting refuge for those with leprosy, subjected to forced labor, abortions, and invasive examinations. Decades later, little progress has been made in improving the well-being of Sorokdo's patients, shunned by families burdened with shame. My exploration into their stories revealed the urgent need to combat disease stigmatization. Empathy emerged as the crucial bridge, emphasizing the equal worth of those with illnesses. In our digital age, information dissemination becomes a powerful tool to dismantle barriers. Sorokdo's history underscores the consequences of fear and ignorance. Through empathy, education, and collective action, we can challenge misconceptions and build a more inclusive and compassionate world.Try it!
