Living in Eastern Washington, our only option to reach the ocean is the Washington or Oregon Coast. For my wife and me, the Oregon Coast is our favorite, especially for photography. We have always wanted to capture the stunning Heceta Head Lighthouse at sunset. However, unpredictable weather and challenging lighting conditions have made it difficult. Now retired, we have the flexibility to plan trips when the weather is favorable. With friends living nearby, we persistently tried to schedule the perfect moment. On one trip, we encountered a series of storms that seemed to prolong our wait. Almost ready to give up, we woke up to a break in the rain with just three days left. Despite the wet and muddy conditions, we decided to seize the opportunity. As the sun set, everything aligned beautifully—the sky turned colorful, and the lighthouse's light illuminated between us and the sunset. Drenched but elated, we knew we had succeeded.
