Bike Ride at Three Mills
Three Mills is a historical Tidal Mill building near Bow. The site is also home to a suite of film studios and is close to Bromley by Bow Centre where I have been based for 35 years.
The view in the painting is taken from a drawing made on-site at Three Mills. There is a strip of land between the tidal Bow Back Rivers and the canalised River Lea. It is a popular place for people to walk out from work at lunchtime.
I chose the location as a background for a young family cycling, the somewhat improbable duo of toddlers balancing rather precariously on the front and back of Mum’s bike was suggested by a mother I saw whilst cycling past whilst I was doing the drawing of the buildings.Try it!
