I took this photograph during my first day of tracking. We had stopped to observe a small group of female and young elephants when I saw this trio appear out of the bush ahead of us. They were some distance away (my 400mm lens made them look closer) and they came towards us.
They met with the other group and carried on browsing together. Elephants are known to have greeting ceremonies for individuals who have been away from the group for a while. This involves ‘hugging’ with their trunks.Try it!
