Descriptiont was a cold and gritty night in the mara and as usual we set out before dawn in search of Bashati, a female leopard roosting on the talek river. Patiently waiting, camera ready, lying on the floor of a car from which the side door had been removed, in order to obtain the lowest possible position and to be at eye level. Our patience was quickly rewarded this time and Bashati appeared from the bushes in a stealthy pose. I hoped she would come our way and give me a straight image which eventually happened.
For those of us who have never seen a leopard in its natural habitat under these conditions, it is difficult to portray in a text the grace of their movements, the splendor of color pattern of this elusive animal.
